On April 8th, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) made the historic decision to allow pharmacists to order and administer FDA approved COVID-19 tests. Empowering pharmacists to test for COVID-19 is a policy GNP and ABC have advocated for, and we are pleased to see this recent HHS guidance. However, in California pharmacists are still unable to administer COVID-19 tests due to existing state restrictions. TAKE ACTION NOW
NCPA and NACDS are calling on members of the pharmacy community to urge California Governor Gavin Newsom to remove remaining testing barriers to enable pharmacies to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic across the state.
California pharmacists already provide testing for flu, HIV, TB, Hepatitis C, and strep. COVID-19 point-of-care testing is quite similar.

broadcasted by CBS Los Angeles.
With the continued and rapid escalation of needs in this public health crisis, the pharmacy community is working hard and heroically. California pharmacists are supplying critical products and services to meet the needs of Californians and working diligently to meet exponentially increasing demands associated with this pandemic. With your help we can overcome this crisis.
