We need your help today to urge Democratic members of Congress to encourage the White House COVID-19 response team to swiftly increase the COVID-19 vaccine allocation to pharmacies. Additional allocation will enable more Americans to access COVID-19 vaccines at pharmacies, one of the most highly trusted and convenient healthcare destinations!
Fully leveraging pharmacies – where 90% of Americans live within 5 miles of a store – can accelerate vaccinations, especially in rural communities and in racial and ethnic populations severely affected by healthcare disparities. Community pharmacies have the capability to administer 100 million vaccine doses in 30 days, assuming vaccine supply is in place and patient demand is strong. To date, the collective doses administered at pharmacies has far outpaced mass vaccination sites set up across the country. We were very pleased to see President Biden’s March 29, 2021 announcement to expand the number of pharmacy vaccination sites to 40,0000 pharmacies across the country (more than double the initial 17,000 pharmacies engaged), and we would like to see this trend continue.
U.S. Representative Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX) is leading a congressional sign-on letter urging the Biden Administration to allocate substantially more COVID vaccines to local pharmacies. We need your help urging leaders to re-balance vaccine allocation and allow this critical program to be more fully utilized for the benefit of all Americans.
