On October 15th, Representatives Kurt Schrader (D-OR) and Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) introduced the LTC Pharmacy Definition Act of 2021 in the House of Representatives. This legislation complements the bipartisan Senate version, which was introduced earlier this year. A joint press release from Representatives Schrader and Mullin can be viewed here. This important legislation will provide a definition for long-term care pharmacies that will be recognized under federal law, in turn eliminating the existing vague and inconsistent regulatory framework that has led to interruptions in prescription management for America’s seniors. AmerisourceBergen Government Affairs & Policy is working alongside the Senior Care Pharmacy Coalition (SCPC), urging members of Congress to co-sponsor the legislation and potentially include the bill in in a year-end healthcare package. We’ll continue to keep you updated as the legislation progresses this Congress.
