Patients Lose if We Don’t Continue to Expand Pharmacy-based Clinical Care in the U.S.

Jun 08, 2022
Jenni Zilka, SVP, Community & Specialty Pharmacy and President, Good Neighbor Pharmacy and Kevin Ban, Chief Medical Officer, Walgreens, have co-authored an article that urges the passage of H.R. 7213, the Equitable Community Access to Pharmacist Services Act, bipartisan federal legislation that enables patients to continue to receive treatment from pharmacists for pandemic-related and respiratory health conditions. AmerisourceBergen and Good Neighbor Pharmacy support this legislation. Establishing a Medicare reimbursement pathway for pharmacists will ensure Medicare beneficiaries will have access to essential care and services provided by pharmacists and will improve health equity.

The article, published on Tuesday, June 7, is on AmerisourceBergen’s newsroom and Walgreen’s website. AmerisourceBergen, Good Neighbor Pharmacy and Walgreens are founding members of the Future of Pharmacy Care Coalition, a Coalition advocating for federal policy solutions to recognize and advance the critical role pharmacists play to care for patients.  For more information about the Coalition, please visit: pharmacycare.org.
