Express Care Pharmacy, a Good Neighbor Pharmacy located in Carrollton, Texas hosted a meeting with staff from the office of Texas State Senator Jane Nelson (R-12). The meeting provided Shinu Punnoose, a registered pharmacist and the owner of the pharmacy, a valuable opportunity to discuss the issues impacting independent community pharmacies. The main topics of discussion included DIR fees and Medicaid reimbursement impacting beneficiaries and pharmacies in Texas. Senator Nelson’s staff welcomed the conversation, and Mr. Punnoose plans to arrange a follow up meeting directly with the Senator. This productive discussion illustrates the significance of engaging with local legislators on the issues that matter to community pharmacies.
