The National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) recently issued a call to action to urge more Senators to sign onto a bipartisan letter addressed to President Trump regarding DIR reform. Below is an excerpt from the NCPA Legislative Action Center.
Contact your Senators and urge them to sign onto a bipartisan letter being led by community pharmacy champions Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) and Jon Tester (D-Mont.). The Senators are extremely disappointed with the Trump administration’s failure to act on the pharmacy DIR issue in the recently finalized drug pricing rule. The letter, addressed directly to President Trump, expresses their disappointment and is being circulated among their Senate colleagues for additional signatories.
Urge your Senators to join in expressing their disappointment to the Trump administration by signing this letter because pharmacy DIR fees continue to:
- Be unpredictable for pharmacies
- Raise costs for patients and taxpayers
- Force patients to the coverage gap prematurely
