Bipartisan Push in Congress for DIR Fee Relief in Future COVID-19 Legislation

Apr 29, 2020

On Monday, April 27, a bipartisan letter was sent to U.S. House and Senate leadership urging for the inclusion of pharmacy DIR reform in the next COVID-19 relief package. The bipartisan House letter, led by Reps. Buddy Carter (R-GA), Peter Welch (D-VT), Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL), John Rose (R-TN), Vicente Gonzales (D-TX), and Doug Collins (R-GA), garnered 115 signers in the House of Representatives, the most number of signatures ever on a DIR fee-focused Congressional letter. Thank you to everyone who took grassroots action contacting your House Representatives through the recent action alert.

A very similar sign-on letter will soon be circulated in the Senate; please look out for a future action alert regarding that letter so we can secure as many Senate signatures as possible.

As Congress negotiates additional COVID-19 relief legislation, AmerisourceBergen and Good Neighbor Pharmacy  (GNP) will continue to advocate for the inclusion of DIR fee reform and other pharmacy related provisions (summarized in this GNP letter shared with Congressional leadership earlier this month) to ensure the sustainability of pharmacies during this public health emergency.
